There are still vacancies at three Formula 1 teams for next season, and the battle for each of them is gradually gaining momentum.
Alfa Romeo/Sauber have not yet decided on a teammate for Valtteri Bottas for 2024. Guanyu Zhou hopes to extend his contract, but admits it will not be easy. Theo Purscher is seen as the main candidate to replace the Chinese driver, but SoyMotor claims that in addition to Theo, Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich also claims to replace Zhou.
Negotiations between the parties are ongoing, but Drugovic’s managers want to close the matter as soon as possible. The fact is that the Brazilian driver already has a contract from the Andretti team for appearances in the next Formula E season, but Felipe has not yet signed it, as this means farewell to the Formula 1 paddock.
Andretti understands Drugovic’s priorities, so they went to meet last year’s Formula 2 champion – the team is ready to wait until mid-October for his decision. If the Brazilian does not agree with Alfa Romeo / Sauber by then, he will sign a contract for appearances in Formula E.
