This weekend in Goodwood, UK, hosts the traditional Goodwood Revival festival, dedicated to the history of motorsport, which will be attended by Formula 1 stars of the past.
For the third year running, 2009 World Champion Jenson Button will be there, driving three different cars on different days. Today he drives a classic Porsche 911 sports car, then he starts one of the races in the Italian Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI sedan, produced in the 1950s, but the main focus will be on the third car.
This is a unique Jaguar C-Type sports car, released seven decades ago, which once belonged to the great Argentine racer, five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio, but now this car belongs to Button. Between 1951 and 1953 Only 53 of these cars were built, and Jenson emphasized that only one of them was painted in bronze – she is now the pride of his collection.
Also in Goodwood today you can see Mark Webber, Damon Hill, Johnny Herbert, Pedro de Ra Rosa, Karun Chandhok, Mark Blundell, Emerson Fittipaldi and Sir Jackie Stewart. Some of them, like Button, will take part in races on historic vehicles from different years, someone will take part in other events of the festival’s varied program, which will once again bring together thousands of fans of racing culture. According to the organizers, all tickets for Friday and Saturday have already been sold.
