Aston Martin wants to play half a second

We have already mentioned that Aston Martin is preparing an important update for the upcoming British Grand Prix. The team expects the updates to lead the middle group. Aston Martin head Mike Krak explained that this requires playing on the circle for about half a second.

“Obviously our car was underspeed on the Barcelona circuit,” Race fans quoted Krak as saying. “The car hasn’t changed since then, but we’ve looked better in the last three races because the characteristics of those tracks helped us look more competitive. I don’t think we would have looked as good if the last three races had been at tracks like Barcelona.

From this point of view, we are firmly on our feet and know that we need to refine the car to make it more suitable for this kind of track – that’s why we chose Silverstone to prepare updates. Innovations are needed to stay competitive – we know that most likely all teams will bring updates to the next stage.

Our goal is to play from three to five tenths of a second. I don’t think it will be enough to take on Mercedes, but it will be enough to get ahead of Alpine and top the middle group.”
