Daniel Riccardo posted a photo of his injured hand after surgery.
Two weeks ago at Zandvoort, an AlphaTauri rider crashed into a protective barrier during second practice to avoid a collision with Oscar Piastri who had stopped on the stretch. As a result of the blow, Ricciardo broke the metacarpal bone of the little finger of his left hand in several places, requiring surgical intervention at a hospital in Barcelona. During the operation, four screws and a metal plate were installed in the rider’s hand.
Today Daniel posted on social media a photo of his hand after surgery with 13 stitches and a short message: “Relatively unchanged.” In the next picture, Riccardo is already in the gym trying to keep fit.
The Australian driver will miss the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix and most likely the Japanese Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo’s return to the wheel is expected at the Qatar Grand Prix from October 6-8.
