Vettel drove the RB7 around the Nordschleife

This weekend, Red Bull will hold its racing festival at Nürburging, including the legendary Nordschleife, in which Formula 1 drivers will take part who have competed at different times and are currently competing for the Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri teams.

Yuki Tsunoda entertained the crowd – tens of thousands of fans at the circuit – by smoking tires and making donuts in a Honda NSX GT3 Evo racing sports car, painted in the colors of the Faenza team, while Sebastian Vettel and David Coulthard raced around the historic circuit. The four-time world champion again got the chance to drive his Kinky Kylie – more than twelve years ago he named this car “Seductive Kylie”, and with it he was able to win his second title.

Now the car runs on synthetic, carbon-neutral fuel – thus Sebastian continues his Race Without Trace campaign, i.e. “Chase, but leave no trace.”

“Today the Nürburgring is sold out, a lot of people have gathered – they say there are about 30,000 people on this part of the track alone, and that’s great! – he shared after the first demonstration race. – I see a lot of flags – thanks to the fans for their support! This is a great opportunity to talk further about our Race Without Trace program and explain to people why I care so much about environmental issues.

I drove the circuit, had a lot of fun and can confirm that it can very well be done in a more responsible way. And even though these are just the first small steps, it is worth it.”

In addition to the Red Bull drivers, another Formula 1 veteran, Gerhard Berger, took part in the Formula Neuburgring festival. True, there was some discrepancy with him: the Austrian was driving his historic Ferrari F412-T2, which he raced in 1995, but when he entered the track he had to stop after just a few meters.

“I took a wrong turn and went the opposite direction!” – he said later.

The audience also saw an even older car on the circuit: a Ferrari 312 B3 from 1974. Niki Lauda drove it at the time and today his son Matthias, an experienced GT racer, got behind the wheel.

“It was incredible to drive it around the Nordschleife! In fifth gear I could give full throttle. When you drive this vehicle, you can’t help but gain respect for the racers of that era and their achievements,” he said.
