Today in Le Mans an interesting event took place at the Bugatti ring, in which Alpine F1 racers took part.
This is the GP Explorer racing festival, organized by the French internet star blogger Squeezie – the essence of it is that these are competitions in which virtual racing masters race in real Formula 4 cars.
But today the crowd gathered in the stands was pleasantly surprised when both Alpine drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon took to the track in old Formula 1 cars.
These were cars built at Enstone in 2012 and 2013, when the team was still called Lotus, but were repainted in the current Alpine colours. They are powered by Renault’s now classic naturally aspirated V8 engines, whose mighty roar is still nostalgic for fans of vintage racing.
Of course, Pierre and Esteban themselves had a lot of fun and entertained the fans by smoking tires and making donuts, which excellently added to the general atmosphere of the holiday.
