Gerhard Berger: Nordschleife is no longer for me

Formula 1 veteran Gerhard Berger will take part in the Red Bull racing festival this weekend at the Nürburgring, a classic German circuit.

Berger is once again piloting the Ferrari F1-412T2, with which he finished six times in the top three in 1995, and we mentioned that not everything went to script.

The Red Bull Formula Nuerburgring grew into a real racing festival, attended by more than 60 thousand fans.

“This is a wonderful event, it reminds me of the days I spent on this circuit long ago,” said Berger. – As always, Red Bull manages to organize something spectacular, everything went well and many people gathered on the circuit.

There are great cars, good drivers, and the fans love it. Most importantly, it’s always great to get back behind the wheel of one of your old race cars. I haven’t been in the cockpit of this Ferrari since 1995, but I immediately enjoyed it.

Although it seems the Nordschleife is no longer for me. I couldn’t find the entrance to it and then I had to turn off the engine, which was overheating. That’s why I didn’t drive along the Nordschleife.

Historically, machines have created a kind of emotional bond between people and technology. There’s something attractive about them. It is clear that the winds of change are now blowing in motorsport, but people do not want to part with the old technology. It still brings joy, and it shows in the fans’ faces.”
