Valtteri Bottas: New products should take a step forward

Valtteri Bottas finished in the top ten at the previous round in Monza and although this is a fairly modest achievement, the Alfa Romeo team was inspired by the result and will now be hoping to earn points in Singapore.

Valtteri Bottas: “We returned to the top ten in Monza and that is good. After some difficult races we really needed this result, especially because at our home Grand Prix we were supported by our teammates – there were quite a few of them in the stands of the track, which gave a special meaning to what was happening.

However, the one point achieved is not enough, I want to earn more, but there are still eight races before the end of the season and we will attack until the end in an attempt to achieve our goals.

Singapore is a unique route, where the characteristics of the city ring and weather conditions create additional difficulties. We are preparing a number of new products for this weekend that should help us take another step forward, and I want to quickly test the modernized car on the track.

The Hinwil team continues to work hard to make the chassis more efficient and our job is to just keep attacking and seize every opportunity to succeed.”

Guanyu Zhou: “This season the race in Singapore is geographically closest to my home country, so I think it’s special. Last year the fans in the stands supported me incredibly well, and now my friends and my family are coming to Singapore, but I will obviously be extremely focused on getting good results.

It is great that the team in Monza has returned to the top ten, which confirms that we are still capable of achieving success and fulfilling the tasks set for us.

After withdrawing from the Singapore Grand Prix last year when I was knocked off the track, I want to perform more successfully and earn points for the team.

This weekend we will present several technical innovations – we hope they will allow us to take another step forward and fight with our rivals. There are still eight races ahead, including three sprint stages, and we still have many opportunities to add to the points earned and improve the team’s position in the Constructors’ Championship.”
