Sebastian Vettel has admitted that he will return to Formula 1 in the future. In an interview with British TV channel Sky Sports F1, recorded during the Formula Nürburgring racing festival in Germany, the four-time world champion ruled out the possibility of returning to the starting line not matter.
“I won’t say no, because I don’t know,” Sebastian replied when asked about a possible return to Formula 1. “I think if you interview all the drivers who first left and then returned, some of them, then When they came back they said “No” and some said “I don’t know”, but in the end they all came back. That’s why I don’t rule out this possibility.
It will probably all depend on when I receive such an offer, but obviously time is not infinite. I’m 36 years old now and I can’t say I’ll be back in ten years. Perhaps I will think about returning when the time comes, but the decision will depend on the challenges I face. Now I don’t have such thoughts.”
Sebastian Vettel added that he can only return on his own terms, and certainly not to temporarily replace an injured driver, as could have happened in early 2023 when Lance Stroll broke his hand.
“I will only come back if I want to, and not because someone is injured and needs a replacement,” Vettel continues. “For this reason I will definitely not return.”
Now my neck is definitely not ready for high speeds. But other than that everything is fine. I’m in pretty good physical condition.”
