Albon: A special race awaits me and the team in Singapore

Williams earned points in the two previous races at Zandvoort and Monza. The team understands that the track in Singapore does not suit their car as well as the previous one, but at the same time they set themselves the target of earning points this race weekend.

In Singapore, Japan and Qatar, among others, the FW45 will receive a special color scheme, which was chosen based on fan votes.

Dave Robson, Chief Engineer: “We arrived in Singapore after two very successful weekends, the results of which inspired the team and the riders. We are motivated to maintain the momentum, but recognize that the characteristics of the Marina Bay circuit may not match the strengths of the FW45. This year, however, the configuration has changed a bit: there are fewer bends and one long straight. These changes are quite significant in terms of brake and tire loads, so this configuration should suit the FW45 better than the previous, slower one.

Pirelli will bring its softest compounds to the podium, the same ones used in Monza. The two track configurations are different, but the soft tires should suit Singapore. In high temperatures and humidity, the rear tires require close attention, but the updated configuration will make working on the tires a little easier.

The dual races in Singapore and Suzuka provide a good opportunity to evaluate the FW45 in two very different conditions, and to test different setup options and directions that could be useful with the FW46. At the same time, we are taking into account the battle for seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship and will try to earn points in the next two races.”

Alex Albon: “We have an exciting weekend ahead of us. In a way this is a home race for me and a special one for the team as the car will sport a special Gulf livery chosen by the fans. She should look great under artificial lighting.

We return to a very bumpy and uncompromising city circuit. The heat will make the coming stage one of the most difficult of the season. I have been working hard on the preparation this week and trying to acclimatize as much as possible for the race weekend.

The circuit is not entirely suitable for our car, but it will be interesting to see what results we can achieve. In addition, the weather also promises to cause difficulties.”

Logan Sargent: “I’m very excited to drive the car under artificial lights for the first time at the Marina Bay Circuit. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to race at this track.

It will be a physically difficult race, but I am ready for this challenge. “In addition, our car will be painted in Singapore in the Gulf colors chosen by the fans, and we hope the result will be good.”
