In 2022 Antonio Giovinazzi will combine his Formula E career with the role of reserve driver for Ferrari. After five races, the Italian driver’s best result remains 19th in Saturday’s race in Rome. Antonio stated with regret that his results were far from expected.
“It’s hard for me in Formula E,” Racingnews365 quoted Antonio Giovinazzi as saying. I can’t drive the car the way I want. This is partly because I have become accustomed to Formula 1 in recent years. These cars are fundamentally different from each other and as a result, not everything runs the way I would like in Formula E.
There has been no racing for the past two and a half months and on the days of the race weekend there is not enough time to get used to the car. The result has to be shown immediately, and this is difficult to do without experience in driving this car. I just can’t find the rhythm.
Sure, I spent many hours in the simulator, but it did more harm than good. In Formula E, the difference between a simulator and a real car is huge. In fact, the simulator doesn’t even come close to mimicking a real Formula E car.”
