Alfa Romeo has confirmed the contract extensions of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou for the 2024 season. Theo Pourcher remains one of the reserve drivers.
Alessandro Aluni Bravi, team representative: “The decision to keep the line-up was a continuation of the investment in our project. In Formula 1 nothing changes overnight, we want to focus on stability and continue to build our team together during the transition period.
Valtteri and Zhou are talented drivers who work well together and motivate each other. Valtteri has become a real leader of the team and Zhou has made significant progress over the past two years. Our job is to provide them with a decent car.
I am happy that Theo will remain with the team as one of our reserve drivers. He has done a great job this year, not only in Formula 2, where we will all support him in his fight for the title in Abu Dhabi, but also behind the scenes with the team at the base in Hinwil.”
Valtteri Bottas: “There is a feeling that there is an interesting future ahead, so I am happy and excited to spend next season with the team. We have a good atmosphere, I get along well with Zhou, we both motivate each other to do better.
We are working hard behind the scenes, in Hinwil and beyond, and now that next year’s selection has been put together, we can fully concentrate on progress. Every step we take is a step forward for this year and next year, so we strive to give our best every time we work on the track and at the grassroots.”
Guanyu Zhou: “Signing a new contract always gives confidence. I am proud to be part of the Alfa Romeo F1 team and grateful for their trust: I have worked hard from day one and am incredibly motivated.
I have a good relationship with Valtteri and we both work closely with the team to progress together. Moreover, I am very happy that I can finally race with my team in China, in front of my fellow countrymen. It will be a great moment and I am proud to share it with everyone who supported me.”
