Mercedes chief technical officer James Ellison was cautiously optimistic about the team’s chances this weekend.
James Ellison: “The team is afraid to say it out loud, but we are full of optimism, hoping to play more competitively at Silverstone than in several earlier stages, although this is cautious optimism.
I think some features of the track suit our car, although in W13 you can’t race from the front row and fight for wins yet. But if we can fine-tune the W13 to handle the Maggotts-Becketts and other fast corners, then we have a good chance of a good result this weekend.
Who knows, Red Bull Racing may be in trouble, but I hope we can handle things better than we have lately.
If we can do it I think it will be hard for me not to get emotional, but I really hope we can perform well thanks to a car that is already pretty good.
