Before the start of the race weekend in Singapore, Charles Leclerc called Red Bull Racing the favorite of the stage. And while Max Verstappen believes his rivals have a good chance of challenging them, Charles does not think Ferrari will repeat the form they showed at Monza this weekend.
Charles Leclerc: “It was nice to read such statements, but I don’t believe it. I think Red Bull will be strong again this weekend, especially on race day. As for the qualifications, maybe we can get closer, but that’s not certain.
I think that at the Singapore circuit, where the car has to be set up for high downforce, we will have more problems than in Monza. I doubt anyone can become a full-fledged threat to Red Bull. I think they’ll just be the fastest.”
Recalling the battle with teammate Carlos Sainz at Monza for a place on the podium, Charles said: “We both enjoyed it a lot. Of course we had a briefing after the finish and discussed everything, but nothing special. Like I said, we both enjoyed it, but I think Carlos liked it less than I did!
Such a fight benefits both the drivers and Formula 1, because the show only gets better.”
