McLaren drivers did not earn points in the final stage in Canada. The team assures that they have found the root of the problems and know what to add in the home stage at Silverstone.
Lando Norris: “I’m happy to be back on the home podium at Silverstone. UK fans in papaya colors in the stands motivate and instill confidence in the team – nothing compares to the home stands. I’m looking forward to meeting the crowd in the fan zone and soaking up the atmosphere.
We have worked hard to improve our competitive position after the race in Canada. The team has worked hard to understand how we can add. Now we understand the car better and know that it is impossible to fix everything right away, but we will do our best to give our fans a reason to be happy.”
Daniel Riccardo: “British Grand Prix… Let’s go! This is a home race for the team, so the stands will support us. Last year there was a sea of flags in papaya colors and I am happy to be back on this podium. On I made my debut at Silverstone in Formula 1, so the track has a special place in my heart, and there are great races here, so I’m looking forward to going to the track.
The stage in Canada turned out to be difficult, but we have to draw conclusions and move forward. There are overtaking opportunities at Silverstone so it will be interesting to see what the situation will be like with the new cars.
I’m excited to be back on track and hope we score points in front of our fans – we have great support and we will do our best to make them happy.”
Andreas Seidli, Team Principal: “There is nothing better than a home race – the whole team is looking forward to meeting the fans. The podium is not only the home base for the team, but also for Lando, so we will feel the support from the stands. Many team members will be in the stands to see first hand the work of their hard work.
It was great to spend time off the track after the round in Canada. We enjoyed last weekend and now know what to add. The team is fully focused on the upcoming weekend.
The track itself is fast. Some of her iconic corners, such as Maggotts and Becketts, are a challenge for any rider and loved by the fans. We are waiting for the best leg in terms of logistics as the track is much closer to the base than usual. That’s the advantage of the home race. We will continue to attack and look forward to seeing the British fans soon.”
