Stroll: We can do better on this track

Lance Stroll finished sixth in last year’s Singapore Grand Prix, which was his best result of the season. The Canadian Aston Martin driver hopes that he and his team can perform quite competitively this weekend, also because the AMR23 machine works more efficiently on circuits that require a lot of downforce.

Lance Stroll: “I think we can do better than in Monza because we have been more competitive all year round on circuits where more pressure is needed. While where lower levels of downforce are required our car lacks efficiency.

I love being in Singapore, it’s a great track and it’s always fun to drive under the floodlights. It’s also nice that this daily routine allows you to sleep a little longer in the morning!

When we talk about changes to the layout of the circuit, I believe that they will have a positive effect on Sunday’s race, and on this point I agree with George Russell: previously it was interesting to see here in the qualifying, but Sunday’s Grand Prix could well be that. a bit boring. That’s why I hope the race will be brighter now.

The team’s goal is to return to second place in the Constructors’ Championship, but to achieve this we need to increase the pace of the car: at the start of the season we were second or third and we are doing a great job every weekend delivered. If we manage to get back to this level, anything is possible.

At this stage of the season the rivalry has become noticeably worse than at the start of the championship, and we have fallen back. We had problems on some tracks, so now we have to get back our previous form and work more efficiently.

Our team, Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren are showing similar results and in some races Williams is capable of very high speeds, so there is a fierce battle throughout the peloton, but if we really manage to improve we can return to second place in the Constructors’ Championship.”
