The McLaren team brought technical innovations to Singapore in one copy, which were installed on Lando Norris’ car. The British rider rode the sixth fastest time in the second training session and was satisfied with the speed of the MCL60.
His teammate Oscar Piastri finished practice in fifteenth place and admitted he still had some work to do with the settings before qualifying.
Lando Norris (6th): “I think we had a good Friday. It was great to get some new stuff; everything looks positive at the moment and we have made good progress.
I think the new things delivered what we expected, so great work from the team. We have a good pace, although we are not as fast as Ferrari. However, we are fighting for a good position.”
Oscar Piastri (15th): “The first day in Singapore is over. I learned a lot. The track is difficult and I believe we have something to work on – both with the settings and with my driving style. Now I have more experience, so tomorrow we will be in better shape, but there is still a lot to do.”
Andrea Stella, team manager: “Apart from the lizards on the track, the first day in Singapore went without any problems for both riders. We carried out the planned program, which focused on testing aerodynamic innovations, and evaluated the tires before the race.
The team is satisfied with the information collected. I thank everyone working at the base and on the track, and put a lot of effort into adding new features to Lando’s car this weekend.
If we evaluate our competitiveness, the car looks quite fast and we will do everything we can to earn a lot of points.
Oscar did a great job on the new track and improved with every lap. More to come tomorrow.”
