The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has sent a written warning to Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, for his comments about the team’s Mexican driver. Sergio Perez reports Aerial sports .
After the Italian Grand Prix, Marco, 80, said Perez was inferior to fellow Red Bull Max Verstappen because he was “not as focused” on the track. Marco explained this by saying that Perez is a “South American”, although Mexico is part of North America.
In its letter, the FIA also reminded Marco that he is considered a public figure in motorsport and must respect the FIA code of ethics.
The next Formula 1 race will take place as part of the Singapore Grand Prix on September 17.
