Alpine’s best result during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix was eighth place by Esteban Ocon. His partner Pierre Gasly set the twelfth fastest time. The team expects to earn points with two cars in Sunday’s race.
Esteban Ocon (8th): “First of all, I want to say that the team achieved a well-deserved result – we put a lot of effort to reach the final. The car drove well all weekend and today I was able to get the best out of it when I needed it, which gave me a good starting position.
Thanks to our base staff for bringing new products to Singapore that have taken us a step in the right direction. Now all attention is on tomorrow’s race, I hope we earn points.”
Pierre Gasly (12th): “It’s a shame we didn’t manage to reach the final, but I’m in a great position to fight for points tomorrow. In some corners the car was missing something because we could never optimize the balance. In preparation for qualifying, the team will analyze what could have been done better to start from a higher position.
Compared to Friday we were able to take a good step forward and this is a positive result for the team. Tomorrow will be a long and very difficult race, but I am confident that we will make progress and earn points.”
