Kevin Magnussen: We want to seize the opportunity

In Singapore, both Haas drivers reached the final qualifying stage for the first time this season – Kevin Magnussen set the sixth fastest time, Nico Hulkenberg the ninth. The last time the entire team reached the final in Austria was in 2022. For Haas, tomorrow’s race will be almost the last chance of the season to earn points, and the team does not want to miss it.

Kevin Magnussen (6th): “For some reason the car is fast on this track. We did well and took advantage of the shape of the car. We both made it to the final and got good starting positions.

We know how difficult it is to overtake in Singapore, but I would like to see those twisty bends in sector three remain. We know that our race speed is not enough to stay in the positions we currently occupy, but perhaps the characteristics of the track will give us such an opportunity. This adds extra pressure because this is the only opportunity for the team and we want to take advantage of it and earn points.”

Nico Hulkenberg (9th): “A very strong result from the team; we reached the final with two cars. I don’t think we expected this, so the result was a pleasant surprise. No matter what happens tomorrow, today we are happy.

Kevin put in a very strong performance. I also had to do my best, although I can’t say that I completed all the laps properly, but it does happen. We have always been strong in qualifying, and slow circuits suit us. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow.”

Gunther Steiner, team leader: “A great day for the entire team. We know we have problems, but we keep working and it produces results. The drivers, mechanics, engineers: everyone gave their best, resulting in two cars reaching the final for the first time this season. Of course this is a joyful moment.

We must try to achieve results tomorrow. Hopefully we can get the tires working. You will have to work hard to get results.”
