Kevin Magnussen’s tenth place allowed Haas F1 to earn points for the fifth time this season…
Kevin Magnussen (10th): “I thought it was all over when Gasly overtook me. I had problems with the brakes and I spun in the second corner. But then the safety car came out, I went into the pit lane, showed good pace on soft tyres, was able to attack and in the end I was lucky: Russell crashed into the wall and I was able to earn a point.
This is the third Grand Prix of the year where I finished tenth, I get points every time I can. This time we miraculously earned points, but it is clearly not worth counting on similar miracles at other circuits until we update the car.”
Nico Hulkenberg (13th): “A long race, difficult and intense, but without results. The safety car sent me way back and there was nothing I could do about it.
Then we missed the opportunity to pit behind the virtual safety car, so I ended up behind Kevin, who finished the race in tenth.”
