Athletistic/Formula 1. Russian driver Nikita Mazepin competed for Haas in Formula 1. However, in 2022 he was dropped from the team for political reasons. Recently, the Russian has been subject to sanctions within the European Union.
On September 14, the EU Council issued another resolution extending sanctions against Nikita Mazepin. The court, however, ordered their immediate suspension.
Earlier on September 7, the President of the European Court of General Jurisdiction issued a judgment ordering the EU Council to suspend sanctions against Russia if they are extended. According to the court, Mazepin should retain the ability to negotiate, train and compete in the EU.
