After the Singapore race, which became the first of the season in which neither Red Bull Racing driver reached the podium, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are determined to return to the Japanese Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen: “The whole team plans to make up for it in Japan after the Singapore race. I’m looking forward to the race in Suzuka because the fast corners make it a very fun circuit to drive. In addition, I have pleasant memories of this circuit – I won my second title here, together with the team we achieved a winning double and in 2014 I went on the track for the first time during the first practice session as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Before the weekend starts, I’m spending time in Tokyo, which is fun and helps with the jet lag. This weekend we have to do everything right and the goal is of course to win.”
Sergio Perez: “The weekend in Singapore was unsuccessful and painful. I hope we return to Suzuka stronger. I have always loved the Japanese circuit and the car will be in top form again. The problems that occurred in Singapore should no longer bother us.
Last year I enjoyed competing in Japan in difficult circumstances. I fought with Charles Leclerc all the last lap, this is the kind of racing we like. The first sector is one of the best of the season: difficult, but beautiful.
We have to win again this weekend, that is the goal. I am confident and looking forward to the race.”
