International Automobile Federation (FIA) spoke with a press release condemning the racist remarks of the triple world champion Nelson Piquet to the driver of the Mercedes Lewis Hamilton .
In November 2021, Pique, while debriefing an episode of one of the races, called Hamilton a ‘neguinho’ which is seen as a discriminatory racist word.
– The FIA strongly condemns any racist or discriminatory language or behaviour. There should be no place for it in sport or in society in general. We express our support for Lewis Hamilton and fully support his commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in motorsport, the federation said in a social media post.
Hamilton is sixth in the drivers standings this season.
