Athletistic/ Formula 1. British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, who plays for the Mercedes team, has commented on racist remarks against him by former Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet.

“This is more than just a statement. This archaic thinking needs to change and has no place in our sport. I have been surrounded by such opinions and attitudes all my life,” Hamilton wrote on one of the social networks.

Piquet, 69, called Lewis a “neguinho” when commenting on Hamilton’s collision with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen of the Netherlands at the 2021 British Grand Prix. Translated from the Portuguese language, the word “neguinho” is a direct insult , indicating Hamilton’s skin color.
