Sainz: We’re trying to make the car faster

Carlos Sainz won in Singapore, but said in Suzuka that he would not be surprised if Red Bull Racing wins all remaining races until the end of the season…

Carlos Sainz: “I am proud of our performance in Singapore – both myself and the team. Throughout the season Red Bull performed at such a high level that it seemed impossible to beat them, but we did it. The surprising victory in Singapore was very nice, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they win all the remaining races this season.

In Formula 1 it is always important to try to keep the momentum going, to keep making progress in this highly competitive environment. Now we have a good chance to do this, but it’s important to remember that the Singapore race is behind us – and to focus on Suzuka.

Our car is still inferior in some areas. At some circuits – in Monza and Singapore – we were able to adapt, but in Zandvoort and Silverstone it was much more difficult. We’ve spent a lot of time and effort finding the optimal settings for different routes, but we haven’t been able to find them yet.

That’s why I try something new every weekend to challenge myself, the team, the car – and it seems to work. We continue to look for ways to make the car faster.”
