Mike Krak: We will continue to modernize the car

Fernando Alonso finished Friday’s training in Suzuka in 6th place as per protocol, and his teammate Lance Stroll in 11th. Team manager Mike Krak commented on these results on Sky Sports and said a few words about the tasks this weekend.

Mike Krak: “The training went reasonably well, although the riders had to adapt to the track in the beginning. But the car worked well, so Fernando and Lance are more or less satisfied. Let’s see how our affairs will develop tomorrow.

At the same time, Lance had more complaints about the balance of the AMR23, mainly due to understeer, which was more pronounced in his car, which caused him to lose about one and a half tenths to his partner in the first sector of the lap. This bothered him somewhat, but in preparation for Saturday we will adjust everything.

Lance is in good physical condition despite the recent accident in Singapore – if the driver has problems with this, he will not be able to show such speeds and complete so many laps in a row.

McLaren is gradually overtaking us in the Constructors’ Championship, but we will continue to upgrade our car to stay ahead. We don’t stop; work on technical innovations continues. It is important to execute every phase of the season with maximum efficiency, and lately we have not always been able to do that.

In the remaining stages of the season we must try to improve, because in addition to the seven Grand Prix, three sprints await us. We can no longer afford to miss opportunities to score points.

If we talk about the Japanese weekend, it will already be a good achievement if both cars reach the final in tomorrow’s qualifying. If at least one of the drivers makes it into the top five, then my dream will come true!”
