The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has rejected the applications of three teams for the right to compete in Formula 1, reports Motorsport.com .
According to the publication, the Rodin Karlin, LKYSUNZ and Hi-Tech teams, including the Russian driver Nikita Mazepin competed in Formula 3 and Formula 2. The Andretti company, whose candidacy was supported by the Cadillac General Motors brand, still has a chance to be included in the list of participants in the championship.
Formula 1 management has the final say on whether a new team is allowed, with CEO Stefano Domenicali repeatedly emphasizing that an additional team is not necessary unless it brings a added value. Current teams are cool on the prospect of expanding the field to 11 teams, the document states.
These days the 16th stage of the Formula 1 championship is taking place in Japan.
