Charles Leclerc: We are closer to our rivals than we expected

Charles Leclerc set the second fastest time in the second training session of the Japanese Grand Prix, losing 0.320 seconds to leader Max Verstappen. After the session, the Monegasque said that the gap with Red Bull Racing was smaller than Ferrari had expected.

His teammate Carlos Sainz ended the training with a fourth result and was also satisfied with the speed of the car.

Charles Leclerc (2nd): “Apparently we are a little closer to our opponents than we expected, so the day can be considered positive. We tried several solutions on my car to make me feel more comfortable while driving, and we succeeded. Now it is important to confirm this tomorrow.”

Carlos Sainz (4th): “This weekend the gap to our closest rivals is small, but we are still back to the situation of previous races, when Red Bull is very fast again. Today we spent most of our time looking for fine tuning and tried many options to find the optimal one for this route.

The team has collected a lot of information, so in the evening they will study it in order to choose the setting option for tomorrow that will allow them to display the optimal speed. There are some interesting days ahead.”
