McLaren driver Lando Norris believes the biggest problems during the Japanese Grand Prix will be related to increased rubber degradation.
Lando Norris: “We believe that the course of the race and its results will be influenced by a factor such as rubber degradation, although this is unlikely to be decisive. We hope we can keep Ferrari behind us, but that will depend on many things. We believe we can show a higher pace even if we choose the same tires as them.
We tried to choose a tactic that would give us the best chance of success, so we will try to use that in some way. We’ll see what we can do, but we believe there will be many different types of opportunities.
It’s hot today, so rubber degradation will be high – this is likely to cause the biggest problems. But we are confident in our abilities.
The team allows Oscar and I to compete, although of course we must show mutual respect.”
