FIA changes sporting and technical rules for Formula 1 2022

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has made changes to the sporting and technical regulations for Formula 1 at its meeting.

In order to improve engine reliability, the rules regarding current power limits have been changed.

Teams will now be allowed to make temporary changes to their powertrains to avoid adding new features and risking penalties.

Teams will also be permitted to replace the engine or components with new components or a newer specification unit between qualifying and the race without having to start in the pit lane.

Other decisions include changing rules regarding restrictions on cars during tire testing. Main wing trailing edge deflection and wing beam bending tests have been updated. Fuel will now be able to cool down to 20°C in races where the air temperature is higher. The control temperature will be taken one hour before the session.
