In Suzuka, newcomer Liam Lawson again defeated his AlphaTauri teammate Yuki Tsunoda, but they did not earn any points…
Liam Lawson (11th): “We didn’t have enough pace over the long distance to compete with Alpine. The team and I worked hard this weekend to get the most out of every session – and we have made progress.
The fight with Yuki was aggressive but fair. Unfortunately this was not enough, today neither of us had the speed to earn points.”
Yuki Tsunoda (12th): “It’s a shame that we couldn’t make the most of the pace of our car. On this track the tires overheated very quickly, we switched to Hard too late and I ended up far behind and had to overtake.
I don’t think I had a chance to finish tenth today. It’s a shame I couldn’t perform well in front of the Japanese fans, but I got a lot of energy from them. Thanks everyone!”
