In Suzuka, only Fernando Alonso brought points to Aston Martin, and his teammate Lance Stroll dropped out due to a broken rear wing…
Mike Krakteam manager: “Taking into account all the circumstances this weekend, Fernando achieved the best possible result today and earned some important points for us.
Lance also had a strong race – he started well, had an advantage over several cars and was preparing to finish in the top ten when we noticed a problem with his rear wing. We decided to make a pit stop to check this and had to withdraw his car from the race. He deserved better. We will now concentrate on preparing for the Qatar Grand Prix.”
Fernando Alonso (8th): “A great start allowed me to move up to sixth place, the car was fine, although it was not efficient yesterday.
After starting on Soft I came into the pit lane a little earlier than those next to me, after switching to Hard I had to work a little. During the second set of Hard the car was quite competitive, I was able to improve and keep the Alpine behind me.
“Everyone is working hard on the track and at the base and we are looking forward to the Qatar Grand Prix.”
Lance walk (departure): “My race ended due to a broken rear wing. I was very upset. I had a good start, gained five places on the first lap and hoped to get a few points. But this happens during racing. We will find out what happened and in a few weeks we will continue the fight in Qatar.”
