Russian driver Alexander Smolyar will not be able to participate in the Formula 3 race at Silverstone due to problems with a British visa, his MP Motorsport team announced today.
“Due to problems with the British visa, Alexander Smolyar will not be able to participate in the 4th stage of the season at Silverstone. This weekend he will be replaced by Filip Ugran,” said the team’s press service.
After the first three stages of the season, he takes 6th place in the individual standings, including in Bahrain in the very first race of the season, Smolar climbed to the podium and finished third.
Romanian Filip Ugran, 19, raced in F3 with Team Jenzer last year, but scored no points. This season he continues his career in the Euroformula Open youth series with Van Amersfoort Racing, he has two wins to his name and after 11 races of four stages Philip is in 7th place in the individual standings.
