In Japan, Max Verstappen took his thirteenth victory of the season and guaranteed Red Bull Racing an early victory in the constructors’ championship. Helmut Marko spoke on German Sky about what this success means for the team.
Helmut Marko: “We are having a great season, culminating in victory in the Constructors’ Championship at Honda’s home circuit. It is of course very nice to win the title long before the end of the season, and not in the last race. While such dominance is unusual even for us, it fits perfectly into our record-breaking perfect year.
Max performed incredibly. He kept both McLaren drivers behind him at the start and then confidently controlled the race. It has improved in terms of sheer speed and produces similar results with ease.
Moreover, I think Max has learned to work with tires like no other. He guides sharply and quickly, but at the same time keeps the situation under control. I think only Lewis Hamilton can compete with him in this area.”
