Formula 2: Beckman replaces Cordil at Silverstone

During the Formula 2 race at Silverstone, David Beckman will replace Amaury Kordil in Van Amersfoort Racing, as the Belgian has been suspended for one race. This is due to the fact that he scored 12 penalty points in the first six stages of the season – by the way, without earning a single point.

For Beckman, this will be the second race of the 2022 season: at Imola, he replaced the injured Cem Bolukbashi in the Charouz Racing System and finished 8th in the Sunday race of the Italian weekend.

“Of course we are sorry that Amaury will not be able to drive this weekend, but at the same time we are happy that David is taking his place,” said Rob Nissink, chief executive of the Dutch team. “We have known him for a long time and we are curious to see what results he can achieve at Silverstone.”

The German driver, 22, completed 12 races (6 laps) in Formula 2 with Charouz last year and finished on the podium twice, but was unable to finish the season due to financial difficulties. In the second half of the season, Beckman returned to the youth championship, but together with Campos Racing he spent only two stages – in Monza and Sochi.

He is currently reserve driver for Andretti Autosport in Formula E.
