The FIA commented on Pique’s racist attack on Hamilton
“I would like to clarify my comment, which is talked about so much in the media. The comment I made in an interview last year. What I said was poorly worded. I do not condone this, but only to clarify that the term is widely used colloquially in Brazilian Portuguese as a synonym for the words “boy” or “man”. I did not mean to offend him in any way. I would never use the word in the translation attributed to me I want to emphasize that I strongly condemn any suggestion that I used this word to humiliate the pilot because of his skin color.
I sincerely apologize to everyone who was injured, including Lewis, who is an incredible driver. Discrimination has no place in Formula 1, or in society in general, and I am happy to clarify my thinking on this,” Pique said in a statement.
