“People are no longer divided into ‘white’ and ‘black’. Those days are long gone” – Schulmeister on Pique’s words about Hamilton

Russian driver Boris Schulmeister has commented on three-time Formula 1 champion Nelson Piquet who insulted the British Mercedes driver on racial grounds Lewis Hamilton .

In November 2021, the 69-year-old Brazilian, during an analysis of an episode of the British Grand Prix race and an accident in the first part of the distance, called Hamilton a “neguinho”, which is considered a racist discriminatory word. A video with this episode circulated online on the eve of the weekend at Silverstone as part of the 2022 season.

– It seems to me that Pique is a very mature and dignified person. If he said anything, it’s unlikely he meant to go by Lewis Hamilton’s nationality or race. I don’t think he meant to offend her on purpose. And the last super-tolerant period leads us to the fact that we will forget how to speak honestly: we will begin to speak in a kind of rounded and so harmless formulations. And what will it lead to? I believe that if a person thinks something, they should say it. And talking about the color of the skin or the nationality of this or that person, it seems to me, now this is no longer a topic at all. I think people are no longer divided into “whites” and “blacks”. Those days are long gone,” Schulmeister told .

Previously, Piquet’s statement had been condemned by many Formula 1 drivers and the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
