Verstappen: It doesn’t matter to me where or when I win the title

This year Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing really dominated the World Championship, and the Milton Keynes team took an early victory in the Constructors’ Championship – this happened already in Japan, six rounds before the end of the season.

Verstappen can become world champion for the third time, not even based on the results of the race weekend in Qatar, but a day earlier if he finishes sixth in Saturday’s sprint. He himself looks at this prospect with complete calm.

“I have no particular enthusiasm for this,” the Spanish newspaper Marca quotes him as saying. – Whether it happens on Saturday, Sunday or in a week’s time is not so important, as I know it will happen anyway. But for now I hardly think about it.

Maybe if I become champion at the end of Saturday’s sprint, that will influence me somehow. Depending on how I spend the night before the Grand Prix. Maybe I’ll react a little slower to the starting traffic light on Sunday. But for now, all this doesn’t really concern me that much.

Our team is having a fantastic year, so it doesn’t matter to me where or when I win the title. You can’t say I tried to win it five races before the end of the championship or at the season finale. I don’t know, I just don’t think about it.”
