On Monday, the FIA officially announced the approval of Andretti Cadillac’s joint application to participate in Formula 1. Performance in the championship is still a long way off, as the team faces negotiations with FOM over the commercial terms of participation in Formula 1. but Michael Andretti’s team is confident that they will not take much time.
“Andretti Cadillac is honored that the FIA has approved the entry of Andretti Formula Racing into Formula 1,” the American team said in a statement. “We appreciate the FIA’s rigorous, transparent and comprehensive evaluation process and are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious championship with a rich history.
Creating an all-American team is a proud moment for all of our employees and fans. We believe that Andretti Cadillac’s deep racing expertise and the technological advancements made possible by racing will benefit our customers and increase interest in Formula 1 around the world.
