Nico Hulkenberg took part in the GP2 Asia Winter Series in Losail and is happy to return to Qatar…
Question: You have not driven a Formula 1 car on the Lusail International Circuit before. What do you know about this process? How do you prepare for the coming phase?
Nico Hulkenberg: I rode Lusail in GP2 Asia in 2009 and I remember it being a very fast and smooth circuit. I love night racing and since it’s a sprint weekend it won’t be easy, but that’s what we came here for.
Q: There are two-wheeled racing vehicle competitions in Qatar, as well as in Barcelona, Silverstone, Spielberg and Austin. What are the characteristics of these circuits, is it easier or more difficult to overtake them?
Nico Hulkenberg: Naturally, the curbs on motorcycle racing tracks must be flatter for safety reasons, and behind them there is usually several meters of artificial grass. It’s easy to see which competition the course is intended for, which adds variety.
Question: The Qatar Grand Prix starts a series of races with a sprint on Saturday, three of the next four stages will be held in this format…
Nico Hulkenberg: We know that in a few phases the team will present new products, but we are not sitting still, we keep pushing each other, we want to have a perfect weekend. Sprints bring a lot of pressure, but we don’t mind that!
