Magnussen: There is more pressure during sprint weekends

Kevin Magnussen has not driven in Qatar before, but is familiar with the circuit…

Question: What do you know about the circuit in Qatar, how do you deal with the development of new circuits?
Kevin Magnussen: I have never competed in Qatar before, but I enjoy getting to know new circuits, and there is so much data and information now that you can prepare quite well in advance.

I already know the configuration, but it will still be a new experience – you need to understand what curbs are there, what are the features of the track. This time we only have one practice before qualifying, so we have to get into the rhythm quickly.

Q: There are two-wheeled racing vehicle competitions in Qatar, as well as in Barcelona, Silverstone, Spielberg and Austin. What are the characteristics of these circuits, is it easier or more difficult to overtake them?
Kevin Magnussen: The aerodynamics of the cars make it difficult for us to chase rivals in medium and high-speed corners, but the straight is long enough, overtaking is possible there with DRS, and it is also a very wide circuit where you can choose alternative routes . Judging from what I saw in 2021, overtaking is possible in Losail.

Question: The Qatar Grand Prix starts a series of races with a sprint on Saturday, three of the next four stages will be held in this format…
Kevin Magnussen: I like sprint weekends, they have more pressure, it’s even during training. So we have an interesting weekend ahead of us.
