Before the start of the weekend in Qatar, Mercedes team leader Toto Wolff summarized the results of the final stage and spoke about the upcoming race…
Toto Wolff: “We knew we wouldn’t be as fast in Suzuka as we were in Singapore. These are very different circuits and the Suzuki’s performance exposed the W14’s weaknesses. It was important to limit the damage. But there are still six races ahead, we are enjoying the fight and will give everything to stay ahead.
We return to Qatar for the first time since 2021. Then the Grand Prix was successful for us, we look forward to returning. It’s a challenging track that racers love.
There have been changes to the route since the last visit. It’s important to understand the effect of these changes during training, but since Saturday is a sprint weekend, we don’t have much time to figure this out and find the optimal settings. This is an interesting challenge that we would like to solve.”
