Roman Grosjean announced that he was suing Andretti Autosport (now Andretti Global), for which he spent two seasons in the American IndyCar series, but the team refused to continue cooperation with him, although he apparently counted on it.
There is no official information from the team yet on this matter, but when Andretti signed a contract with Marcus Ericsson, talk immediately started that Michael Andretti planned to refuse Grosjean’s services. But Roman was the first to release a statement through social networks, which directly states that he intends to defend his rights in court.
“I have enjoyed working with the Andretti Autosport team and am proud of the successes we have shared over two seasons,” the driver wrote. “I am grateful to have made many friends at the highest level of American motorsports.
I was looking forward to continuing to work with the excellent team at Andretti Autosport next year. To my disappointment, this is not being implemented and I wish the Andretti team all the best. Now I am looking for other options to continue my career in IndyCar.
To protect my rights, I have initiated arbitration proceedings against Andretti Autosport…”
At the end of his statement, Grosjean names the law firm that represents him.
It was mentioned in the American press that Roman had disagreements with the team more than once during the races; for some reason he was dissatisfied with its actions. In addition, his aggressive fighting style on the track sometimes drew sharp criticism from his rivals, although it is difficult to say to what extent all this influenced Andretti’s decision.
Last season, Grosjean was on the podium only twice and finished the championship in 13th place in the individual standings, and this is the worst result of any Andretti driver. Next year he has a contract with the Lamborghini factory team, which is preparing for its debut in the Hypercar class in the WEC.
