Piastri: Good results are becoming the norm for us

In Japan, Oscar Piastri stood on the podium for the first time this season, although he was not completely satisfied with himself and his pace after the race in Suzuka. But together with the engineers he analyzed everything, drew certain conclusions for himself and hoped that this will help him perform better already in Qatar.

Oscar Piastri: “I hope the team was satisfied after that weekend, but even though it was my first podium, there was perhaps a little less enthusiasm, because before that we had already been close to the top three a few times. I think such results are becoming more and more normal for us, but of course it’s great to be on the podium, and now we want to repeat it more than once.

During the meeting with the whole team at the base in Woking, everyone naturally congratulated me and we have the feeling that we will really be able to show results like this more often. I think the circuit in Qatar should also suit our car well. Obviously the faster the turns, the better for us.

But the weekend program includes a sprint and it will be very hot, and this circuit is new to me – all this can have an effect. In theory we should be in good shape, but tomorrow we will find out the whole truth when we get started.

After the Japanese Grand Prix, we analyzed everything carefully together with the engineers, trying to understand why the race pace was a little worse than we would like, but this is also part of the learning process and gaining experience. The Suzuka circuit was new to me and during the race there was intense tire wear, but we solved it and hope we can achieve improvements next time.”
