Guanyu Zhou: We never give up

Guanyu Zhou did not earn any points at the Spanish Grand Prix, but hopes the new products the team has prepared will help in Qatar…

Q: Tell us about your first impressions of the Lusail track, as you haven’t raced here before…
Guanyu Zhou: Great song. Lots of medium and fast corners which I really enjoyed, the weather is going to be warm this weekend. I expected heat and high humidity, a very difficult weekend for all of us.

Q: What can you say about the new products prepared by the team? You presented them in Singapore and continued to get used to them in Suzuka. Can they help this weekend?
Guanyu Zhou: New items undoubtedly help us move forward, but other teams also provided many updates from the last stages, so the balance of power has not changed.

In Suzuka the car looked very good, on Saturday it was just a little too short to progress. So if we qualify better here, we can compete for points. The end of the season will not be easy, but we will never give up.

Question: Technical director James Key came to Suzuka. He said it was a mission to gather information. What feedback did you give him?
Guanyu Zhou: It’s really important that James finally came to the track to see what was really going on. Before this, I participated in our briefings online, but because we are on the right track, it is easier to understand what we are missing and what direction we should go next. This is especially true for next year’s car.

I think it was a very useful weekend for James, where we were able to see our weaknesses – and the strengths we need to maintain next season.
