Sergio Perez still has a mathematical chance of winning the title this year, but the Mexican Red Bull Racing driver understands that Max Verstappen will become world champion again this season. At the FIA press conference, Sergio spoke about the goals he sets for himself at the end of the season.
Sergio Perez: “Just like the last stage in Suzuka, Qatar has a high-speed circuit with fast corners, but the weather conditions will be completely different. We have an interesting weekend ahead, because immediately after the first training we have the evening qualifying. Moreover, in free practice we will probably go three seconds slower because of the sand.
The last Asian stages of the championship were not the best for me, but I learned a lot and know what went wrong in Suzuka. So I expect to be in much better shape this weekend. In Suzuka we set up the car wrong, in a way we exaggerated, but now we understand what exactly we did wrong. I hope we have a less problematic weekend in Qatar.
It is very important for me to get second place at the end of the season because for me this is the highest possible result. All drivers want to have the best possible season and it is very important for me to perform well in the next six races.”
