The sprint in Qatar did not earn AlphaTauri any points…
Yuki Tsunoda (11th): “Not the easiest day, but that’s what happens in the sprints on Saturday. My apologies to the team for leaving the track and radio communications during the first session.
We couldn’t get our best results during the Sprint Shootout, which really upset me. In the sprint, the first lap was difficult, especially because of the wind, but it was important to gather information about the tires, avoid mistakes and reach the finish.
We have prepared for tomorrow’s race and will fight. It won’t be easy to keep tire wear under control, but we will do everything we can to earn points.”
Liam Lawson (departure): “The car was fast, but I made a mistake on the last lap, drove too wide onto the curb and my time was removed. My apologies to the team; they did a great job, working hard all night to take a big step forward compared to Friday.
In the first lap of the sprint the biggest problem was sand on the asphalt. I had a bad start on the dirty side of the track, but I went into the first corner on the main line and gained a few places. In the second corner I went off track and lost control of the rear of the car. I apologize to the team, I have drawn conclusions and will try to do better tomorrow.”
