The result of Saturday’s sprint for Aston Martin confirmed the results of Friday’s races – Fernando Alonso fought in the top ten and Lance Stroll in the final rows…
Fernando Alonso (8th): “When choosing tires for the sprint, we gave priority to tomorrow’s race and after Leclerc’s penalty I finished eighth. The fight turned out to be interesting, but in the closing laps the Soft tires lost their effectiveness.
We don’t know how many pit stops there will be tomorrow. We have saved a few sets of tires and hope to finish in the top five.
Congratulations to Max Verstappen on his third title. He has dominated this season and deservedly won.”
Lance walk (15th): “It’s a difficult race. It was hot and the tires wore out quickly. The first few laps went well and I managed to overtake Bottas, but soon the tires lost grip and I couldn’t achieve much.
When the safety car appeared on track for the third time, we decided to make a pit stop and put on a set of soft tires, but the finish was getting closer and Yuki was actively defending. Tomorrow we will use this experience and think about What can be done.”
