Police: Protests possible on race day

The British Grand Prix attracts a huge crowd, which has been used more than once by all kinds of activists. Northamptonshire Police have warned stage organizers that protest organizers could try to disrupt Sunday’s race.

“We have received credible information that a group of protesters plans to disrupt the event by infiltrating the track on race day.

First of all, I want to address this group of people. I urge you not to endanger yourself, riders, marshals, volunteers and members of the public. It is extremely dangerous to go on the track – endangering people’s lives.

The right to protest is a human right in this country, we will be happy to discuss with you the organization of a peaceful protest on the track, but please do not create a situation that endangers people’s lives.

I would like to ask the public to be extra vigilant and to let us know about anything that seems unusual or strange to you during the race weekend.

It is better to receive a message and make sure the situation is safe than not to receive it at all. If you see anything suspicious, report it to a police or security officer,” the local police said in a statement.
